Are you looking for a stain to coordinate with your new Great Lakes Wood Floors? We have partnered with PPG to provide coordinating stain matches in both gallon and quart formulations. We have also identified Minwax or Varathane stains that will closely coordinate with your flooring and that are great choices for small repairs and touch-ups.
Before applying the stain, you should test it in an inconspicuous area or on a piece of unfinished material to determine how much stain to apply. If you are staining raw wood, make sure it is the same species as the flooring you are trying to match. Once you have tested the stain and have a feel for how much it will take to achieve the desired color, you can proceed with completing your project.
PPG stains can be purchased at an authorized PPG Retailer in your area. On this page, we have included a link to the PPG Dealer Locator as well as a list of the coordinating stain matches we currently have available. If your stain is not listed on the chart below, you can take a few planks of your flooring along with an unfinished piece of the wood that you will be coordinating to the flooring to an authorized PPG retailer. The PPG store can provide you with a stain that best complements your flooring once you provide them with these two items. The PPG Representative should be able to provide guidance on how to best apply the stain to ensure it coordinates with your flooring.
Minwax and Varathane Stains
These stains can be purchased in Menards stores or at Menards.com. The suggested stains are great for repairing minor scratches and blemishes or staining raw wood to match the flooring. Always test a small, inconspicuous area before applying stain to the entire surface. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
